Mount Sherman Summit Edition: The Story Behind the Design

Mount Sherman Summit Edition: The Story Behind the Design

Mount Sherman started out nothing like it ended. The drive in was calm, with open Colorado scenery, light weather, and even a rainbow. The lower part of the mountain felt manageable and quiet. By the time we were higher up, snow was blowing across the trail, the wind had picked up, and the entire character of the day had changed.

That change is what shaped the Summit Edition design.

The name itself carries the story. Mount Sherman moves from warm sunrise colors into cold, snow-toned blue from left to right, following the same shift we experienced during the climb. It isn't meant to capture one exact moment on the mountain. It's the whole day compressed into the lettering.

Where the two words meet, there's a small silhouette of two hikers. We kept them subtle on purpose. The design isn't supposed to be a landscape with people standing in front of it. The mountain's name does most of the work, with just enough of a human mark left behind to remember that two of us actually stood there.

The design is less a picture of Mount Sherman and more a memory of what Mount Sherman felt like to us that day.

Mount Sherman is often described as one of the easier Colorado 14ers, and for much of the climb it felt that way. The weather gave our day a different character. Higher up, the wind and snow felt like a blizzard to us at the time, even if calling it a blizzard might be giving ourselves a little too much credit.

The narrow upper section, blowing snow, and clouded summit are the parts that stayed with us most. By the time we reached the top, there wasn't much of a view at all. After everything we had walked through to get there, that almost made the summit more memorable.

That's where the final design came from: warm light turning cold, changing weather carried through the lettering, and two small hikers left at the top. It's our Mount Sherman story turned into something wearable, not a literal picture of the mountain, but the version of it that stayed with us after we came home.

We had a camera running for most of the climb. Keep an eye on our social channels if you want to judge the “blizzard” comment for yourself.
